Structure-function relatioship of trabecular bone characterized by ultrasound by Luis Cardoso.
Luis Cardoso is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the City College of the City University of New York. Dr. Cardoso's research interest focuses on understanding the structure-function relationship in musculoskeletal and cardiovascular tissues, with particular interest on ultrasound wave propagation, poroelasticity, hyperleasticity, 3D imaging and experimental biomechanics.

Estimation of trabecular bone properties using two-phase model by Michal Pakula.
Michal Pakula is currently an associate professor in the Institute of Mechanics and Computer Science Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz, Poland. He received an M.Sc. degree in Technical Physics in 1998 from Poznan University of Technology and, a Ph.D. in Mechanics in 2004 from the Institute of Fundamental Technological Research, Polish Academy of Science in Warsaw.
His primary research interest is biomedical ultrasound, in particular, theoretical modeling and experiment of wave propagation in trabecular bone. From Oct. 2006 to Oct. 2008 he was a Marie Curie Fellow at the Laboratoire d'Imagerie Parametrique (currently Laboratoire d’Imagerie Biomédicale), Sorbonne Université, Paris, France. He has published one monography Modeling of ultrasonic waves in cancellous bones using two-phase approach (in Polish), more than 20 articles in International “Peer review” Journals and two book chapters. He has organized the 3rd European Symposium on Ultrasonic Characterization of Bone (ESUCB 2009) in Bydgoszcz Poland. He is currently a reviewer of 5 Journals and member of 2 societies.
The total time allotted to each speaker is 20 minutes. Invited speakers have 50 minutes. All the speakers should plan to leave 5 min. for questions.
Please, bring the presentation on a USB flash drive.
Only Power Point presentations 97-2007 or 2016 (or higher versions) (.ppt or .pptx)
Adobe Acrobat files (.pdf) will be accepted.
The poster must be A0 size (A0 size is 841mm x 1189mm) in portrait orientation.
There will be 'shotgun' poster presentation. Those presenting a poster will deliver a single slide presentation to promote their poster. This will take the format of 1 slide and 3 minutes per poster. Slides should be in .pptx or .pdf format.
